To make it short, it means: Death is inevitable. 
Like what you've said, we don't know when to die. So we have to treasure every moment we have here on earth and with our loved ones. 
I love this quote! I actually just learned this today and I think this will be a great reminder for me to just focus on the present instead of being anxious about the future.
