Why did your government decided to change the aging system?
In Korea, people are sensitive about age. Even kindergarten students ask each other 'how old they are?' when they meet at the playground, and then they play according to that. There is a social tendency to determine the order of older and younger siblings before the concept of friends.
Most of Korean, they have 2 type of age. The standard age is applied 1 year for every year that passes from birth, while the Korean age is applied 1 year from birth.
Until May 2023, two ages were used interchangeably in Korea. The international standard age used in government offices and all standard documents and the age used in social life were used together. Although only one age is used in all government offices and social life, many people still use the two ages interchangeably. |
