I read an article that one of president candidates has a suspicion that pushed his relative to get a real estate license. Is it so difficult to be a real estate agent? Is it making a lot of money? That’s because it is too trivial for us to imagine that kind of issues could be controversial in presidential campaign. It’s surely inappropriate behavior for the senator to send a letter as character witness to committee to examine the application without disclosing their relationship. One of experts claimed that when we feel conflicts of interests and cannot eliminate them, we should manage them by disclosing the conflict. But when the senator sent the letter to the committee, he did not disclose their relationship. Instead he wrote he recommended the applicant to get that license without reservation and if needed his assistance, don’t hesitate to contact him directly. I don’t know the senator before the article. And I don’t know after that how things will progress. But I realized that the US media are doing their best to screen any inappropriate careers and perspectives of candidate of public officer. Actually being too tolerant of small wrongdoing could be tragedy of whole society in the long run.
